Olympic Game News Part 1

A special feature series on Olympics Ultimate Olympics (previously called China-Olympics in progress) were co-produced by China Intercontinental Communication Center and Discovery channel. On August 19, 2007 the first episode Rivals was broadcasted through Discovery channel in Australia which was a prelude to the global network broadcast of this series. At present, this series has been scheduled in more than 30 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and Singapore with115 million households viewing. It will continue to be broadcasted on Discovery Channel through Discovery international network and eventually be released in 173 countries worldwide in 35 languages. The viewing households will reach 327 million.

Ultimate Olympics is a series show of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It includes three episodes lasting 180 minutes and a special episode lasting 120 minutes. The series focuses on three themes which are Olympic athletes, Olympic city and Olympic science and technology. It introduces Beijing’s preparations for the Olympic Games and changes of China in many aspects before Olympic Games start as well as demonstrates Chinese people's enthusiasm and three concepts of Beijing Olympics which are "Green Olympics", "Hi-tech Olympics" and "People-oriented Olympics".

Rivals is the first series of Ultimate Olympics. It focuses on three main sports events: Gymnastics, swimming and track and field. Rivals records the preparation story of athletes as well as science and technology innovation of China, the United States, Australia and Great Briton to improve the performance and get golden medals.
In order to seize the favorable opportunity, enhance China's image and increase China's soft strength before the Olympic Games start, in 2006 China Intercontinental Center consulted with its partner---Discovery and they reached an agreement on subjects and shooting plan soon. In that year, the filming and production began.
The other two episodes and the special episode of Ultimate Olympics will be broadcasted in succession from December 2007 to June and July of 2008. The brand program called China's Architectural Wonders by China Intercontinental Communication Center and Discovery will also launch two new episodes of Beijing’s New Airport in the meantime.

A broadcasting plan of China has been set by two parties. The plan includes not only the above episodes broadcasted in Discovery international network, but also the promotion of other TV and new media platforms under development. It takes full advantage of the time before the Olympic Games start and shows Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and vigorous development of contemporary China to the whole world.
